Charity frog racing fun for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice

WORKSOP folk enjoyed a fun evening of frog racing to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Around 120 supporters attended the night at the Masonic Hall which raised £925 for the charity.

The Frog Racing involved wooden ‘frogs’ propelled by ropes in a straight race with six ‘frogs’ in each heat.

There were cash prizes up for grabs and onlookers could bet on their favourite ‘frog’ on a tote basis.

Chairman of the Worksop Support Group for Bluebell Wood John Bower said he was delighted the evening raised such a fantastic amount for the charity.

“It was a hugely enjoyable evening - enhanced by a very enjoyable supper provided by Kenny’s of Lowtown Street,” he said.

Mr Bower said they are now busy holding special merchandise stalls for Christmas and bucket collections across Worksop.

The charity is also looking forward to hosting a general knowledge quiz, a fashion show and various other events in the New Year.
