Children injured in A1 crash at Blyth

A 10-year-old girl had to be airlifted to hospital following a crash on the A1 at Blyth.

The youngster was in a black Ford KA, travelling north, which left the carriageway near to junction 34 at around 5.45pm on Saturday.

The 10-year-old was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

A nine-year-old boy was also taken the Children’s Hospital and a 35-year-old woman was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital. Both with minor injuries.

The road was closed for around five hours while investigations were carried out.
