Cider thief coughs up

Benjamin Stuart hid the items under his jacket as he left the One Stop Shop in Carlton on 12th January 2012.

As he left the store he was stopped by a staff member and the police were called.

Stuart, 35, from Costhorpe Villas, Costhorpe, admitted to the theft on Monday at Worksop Magistrates’ Court, with his dad present.

Mr Hatfield, defending, said: “He states he is very little recollection of the offence.”

Magistrates also ordered Stuart to pay £6.99 in compensation and a contribution to court costs.
