Cinema preview

Pupils from Outwood Academy Portland had a taste of movie magic to come as they enjoyed a special sneak preview of Worksop’s brand-new cinema.

The group of six year 11 students had a tour of the six-screen £3m multiplex, led by Savoy Cinemas managing director James Collington.

The new 968-seat cinema, which will boast the latest 3D technology, is on track for opening in March 2012.

Portland student voice president Warren Foster said they felt privileged to have a first view at what would be a ‘great resource’ for people in Worksop.

“A lot of people have said they think it looks really small from the outside, but after the tour we can see it’s really big,” he said.

“It’s going to be great for us to have a cinema just a short walk away and will be a lot cheaper than going to Sheffield or Doncaster.”

“It’s going to be a great resource for the town of Worksop.”
