Citizen of honour award for Belton war veteran

Receiving a prestigious honour from the chairman of the Royal British Legion was 94-year-old William Moon of Belton recently.

William has received the Citizen of Honour of the City of Liverpool in recognition of the part he played in World War II.

William was born in Liverpool in 1919 but has lived in Belton for many years.

He served in the Royal Artillery and was on active service in the Middle East.

He also spent time working as a paratrooper.

The honour was bestowed to Liverpool’s surviving veteran servicemen and women including Merchant Seafarers in who served in WWII.
