Climbing Kili for children’s charity

WORKERS at Dinnington charity are gearing up for the challenge of a lifetime - and need your help.

Hilary Massarella, founder of local children’s charity Safe@Last is preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro later this year.

Hilary and the charity’s service manager Tracy Haycox will be leading a team of trekkers up the mountain in Tanzania in October.

There are still a few places left on the trip for adventurous fundraisers who want to join this challenge of a lifetime.

The group will be raising funds and awareness for Safe@Last which works with vulnerable children at risk of running away across South Yorkshire.

Volunteers are hoping to raise more than £1,400 each, above the cost of the trip.

Hilary said: “I’ve been fortunate to be able to take part in a number of challenges in support of Safe@Last but this is certainly the most exciting and will definitely be the most difficult.”

“I am looking forward to working with the other members of the team who are a great bunch of people, I really believe that together we can inspire and encourage ourselves to achieve levels of determination and fulfilment what we would never normally experience.”

“I just can’t wait to visit Africa, to see the animals and the beautiful landscapes and at the same time know that I am making a great financial contribution to my favourite children’s charity.”

The trek will take place from 3rd to 14th October and to make sure they reach the top, Safe@Last is working with Charity Challenge, the same organisation which organised the celebrity trip for Comic Relief.

Anyone wanting to take part doesn’t have to be an extremely fit walker but it will be a tough challenge with long hard days walking in extreme temperatures. There will be some training so a reasonable level of fitness is needed.
