The money was the proceeds raised from the 10K organised by the Skegness Coasters at Southview last November. The cheque was handed over to the charity at The Welcome Inn.

Local Air Ambulance volunteer John Turner gave a short speech thanking Coasters for nominating the Air Ambulance.

He said: “This year we are hoping to get a new Augusta Westwind AW169 which can reach speeds of 160mph so it can fly from its base at RAF Waddington to anywhere in Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire in 20 minutes.”

He added the Ambucopter costs £2,100 per mission and £2.2m a year.

Skegness Coasters offered thanks to Southview Leisure Centre, Lincolnshire Co-op, Mark Williams (Richmond Leisure), Lincolnshire Runner and Skegness Town Council for their help with the 10k event.

The main club night is every Tuesday at 6.30pm at the Welcome Inn.
