Colleagues remember ‘much-loved’ director

Colleagues of Dinnington man Rob Hurdley have paid tribute to a man who went ‘above and beyond’ to help everyone he met.

Naz Hassen, store director from Specsavers in Chesterfield, said: “The team and the co-director of the Chesterfield store have been devastated by the loss of their much loved and respected director Rob and are finding it very difficult to come to terms with the nature of what has happened.”

“Rob’s ability as a director and his witty personal style will be sorely missed, he was an outstanding director, colleague, mentor and friend to all in the store and he always went above and beyond to help everyone he met.

“We have been overwhelmed by the number of messages and tributes to Rob and would like to thank everyone for their kind words of support.”

“Our thoughts are very much with Rob’s family at this very difficult time.”

Specsavers founder Dame Mary Perkins added: “Rob was a valued joint venture partner as the director of Specsavers in Chesterfield. His expertise and experience enabled him to lead his large team in a successful optical store, and also represent all Specsavers stores in Yorkshire by taking on the position of regional chairman.”

“He was greatly respected by everyone in the group, he was always contributing positively on behalf of his customers and colleagues.”

“The whole company is shocked and saddened by his death and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and staff.”
