Comfortable win for Worksop in first league home encounter

Worksop Rugby Club’s first home game of the new league season brought a comfortable 29-0 victory over Keyworth.

They put the disappointment of last week’s heavy defeat behind them and upped their performance at Stubbing Lane.

Worksop put four tries past Keyworth and controlled the game from start to finish.

Keyworth, to their credit, played well and were only stopped by a very strong defence that the entire Worksop team contributed to.

Worksop worked tirelessly throughout the game and were rewarded for their efforts with a bonus point win.

Man of the Match was awarded to Guy Wilkinson for his performance, and Liam Baker also had an excellent performance coming on in the second half and setting up two tries.

Liam Copper bagged a brace of tries, adding to scores from Luke Christian and John Williams.

Aaron Bainbridge converted one, while Matthew Nunn added two conversions and a penalty kick.

This Saturday they’re back in action in the Rugby Football Union Junior Vase, on their travels.

Training is at the usual time of 7pm on Thursday.

Players should meet at 11.30am on Saturday for the trip to Aylestone, where the Vase game wil kick off at 2pm
