COMMUNITY: Bassetlaw Share'“a-Ride

Now's the chance to do your bit for the environment '“ and save money. Join the 785 people now registered with Bassetlaw Share-a-Ride, with over 250,000 shared journeys a year. Two people in Misterton car share their journey to Retford: each day they car share, they save Â£4.47 in fuel costs alone. Together, they saved over Â£1,032 in the last year. The scheme enables people to car-share to and from work or for pleasure journeys. There are a number of benefits:

· Reduces traffic problems and traffic congestion

· Boosts the local economy and employment opportunities

· Cuts the cost of driving by sharing expenses

· Reduces the stress of driving

· Enables you to meet people you might not normally meet

· Enables those without cars to apply for jobs they could not apply for before

· Reduces car emissions.

All you have to do is register your details by emailing: [email protected]. Or call Bassetlaw Action Centre to request further information. You will then be sent a registration form for the scheme. On this form will be a number of questions relating to your preferences and the journeys you make. You do not have to own your own vehicle; however, you should make a note of this on your registration form. Upon receipt of a completed application form, your details will be entered onto the Share-a-Ride database. You will then be contacted with any possible matches.

There is no charge for individual members - it is free to register and you may be taken off the database at any time you wish.
