Paul explains that his course of lectures is an opportunity and an open invitation to come and join him to learn more about the history of Gainsborough.

On March 2 , the lecture is titled: 1541: When Henry stayed over at Gainsborough’s Medieval Manor House’ which focuses on how in August 1541, whilst on his only northern progress through the north of England, Henry VIII with his teenage consort stayed over at the Old Hall in Gainsborough. The talk will look at the purpose of his progress, map out the route to York and his return trip to Hampton Court, and introduce the key personalities who accompanied the royal party and the consequences of the progress.

Further details can be obtained about the course of lectures by email: [email protected] or visit www.gainsboroughheritage.com or call 01427 610526.
