COMMUNITY: Laughton WI

February is members' night, The members organise the entertainment, including supper, while the committee have a well-earned and much-appreciated evening off. Joint president Joy Bannister welcomed members, as well as group convenor Jean White plus a guest from Scotter WI. The speaker was Rebecca Nelson, granddaughter of founder member Ann Purdy. Rebecca studied history at university and is currently working towards a PhD at Hull. As part of her training she spent two months on placements at Buckingham Palace and Balmoral doing inventories of the royal collection. Her audience was fascinated to hear of her experiences and enjoyed taking part in a quiz featuring the royal family. The winning team, Charlie's Angels, all received an individual prize. The lucky draw winner was Hilary Harris and Lesley Bird won the lottery.
