COMMUNITY: Ride & Stride for churches

Chief Scout and all-round adventurer, Bear Grylls, has given his support to this year's Ride & Stride for churches'”the annual sponsored bike ride or walk on Saturday, September 10. '¨Participants cycle or ride between churches, choosing their own itinerary. '¨Half the amount raised goes to the church of their choice, the rest to Notts Historic Churches Trust and is used for the repair and maintenance of churches in the county. '¨Bear explains: 'Many historic churches, chapels and meeting houses are battling to survive. Roofs leak, ancient timbers rot and medieval stonework crumbles. '¨Now you can help by joining the Ride & Stride adventure, a sponsored bike ride or walk discovering beautiful churches which also raises money for their preservation.' '¨All three churches in Misterton and West Stockwith are participating, as well as other churches across north Notts.
