COMMUNITY: Sturton Parish Council

The annual meeting was held in the Old Schoolroom when all councillors and eight local residents were present. '¨Before the meeting began district councillor Reg Shore presented the council with an award for being the Parish Council of the Year in this area. Congratulations were offered by members of the public.

Councillor Chris Elkington was then re-elected as chairman and Gavin Widdison as vice-chairman. Other representatives were village hall - Christine Christie, recreation field - Richard Butroid and youth club - Michelle Grainger.

The financial statement, adoption of accounts and other formalities were all approved.

The monthly meeting then proceeded beginning with a presentation by Steve England of West Lindsey District Council on the proposed neighbourhood plans. There will be a further meeting of the councillors for discussion on the subject.

Minutes and accounts were agreed.

Dennis Taylor gave an update on proposals for improvements at the village hall including redecoration, new curtains and a new floor. 
Joan Wines reported that 47 people had enjoyed a trip to Nottingham and a cruise on the River Trent. \

It was reported that 700 snowdrop bulbs have been planted in the Jubilee Wood.

In the recent walkabout by the councillors several items were noted for refurbishment including painting the seats and painting the Old Schoolroom window sills.

It was agreed to offer storage space to the Sturton and Stow History Society.

It was agreed to renew the insurance policy and the electricity contracts.

The flagpole is being refurbished before the flag is flying again.

Following a request for a contribution towards the provision of a community defibrillator to be placed at the village hall council agreed to donate £500.
