COMMUNITY: Sturton Parish Council

Met in the old schoolroom with councillor Chris Elkington in the chair. All councillors, eight local residents and the clerk were present. A grant of £1,500 had been received towards the cost of the new bus shelter on Stow Road.

It was agreed to pay the annual subscription to LALC, to pay for the purchase of youth club shirts from their allowance and to pay the fee to enter the best kept village competition.

During the open meeting the problem of car parking in the village was raised and the increase in dog fouling.

It was agreed that the grass cutting for 2016 will be done by DWG Groundcare. Fifty new trees have been planted in Jubilee Wood and improvements are to be made at the southern end with fencing and a gate.

A new litter bin is to be purchased for the recreation field and a new flag for the village green.

Problems of inconsiderate parking on The Glebe were also discussed.

The annual parish meeting when all village organisations are requested to send either a representative or a written report will be held in the old schoolroom on Wednesday, April 6, starting at 7pm.
