Consultation event on local plan

CONSULTATION is now open for people to have their say on how development should work in Central Lincolnshire over the next 20 years.

And YOU are invited to an event to discuss the draft local plan which has been drawn up.

On Thursday 2nd August, from 9.30am - 4.30pm, at The Guildhall, Marshall’s Yard, residents and businesses can go along and speak to officers from the Central Lincolnshire Joint Strategic Planning Unit.

Central Lincolnshire is a combined area covering the districts of West Lindsey, North Kesteven and Lincoln.

The cross-boundary response currently being drawn up will guide planning decisions on future proposals for 42,000 new homes, 140 hectares of employment land, roads, business parks, open spaces and flood defences across Central Lincolnshire by 2032.

Gainsborough alone has been put forward for 10,000 new homes. So it is important to have your say on where they should go and how development could affect you.

Consultation on the Partial Draft Core Strategy runs until Monday 10th September.

Lots more information and all the documents are available to inspect online at www.central-lincs.org.uk/consultations

Or go to West Lindsey District Council offices to see them in person.

Once approved, the final Core Strategy document will guide all new development and future planning applications in Central Lincolnshire up to 2031.

Coun Burt Keimach, chair of the Joint Planning Committee, said: “In preparing these proposals our priority has always been to balance the protection of the district’s vibrant market towns and sustainable villages with the need for stimulation and protection of our economy.”

“We all know the area has to grow to cater for future demand and we need to get these plans right.”

“To make sure the right balance is struck and that the pieces are put in the right places to promote, protect and enhance the area, you need to get involved now.”
