Councillors at last Tuesday’s North Kesteven planning committee approved the scheme for land at Top Farm, Green Man Road, Navenby.

Linden Homes and Lindum Group had originally put forward a joint application for 160 homes on the farm land. An appeal claiming NKDC was taking too long to decide was dismissed in May.

The revised layout has been reduced in size to 127 dwellings, including 44 affordable homes, but 48 letters from Navenby area residents objected, claiming not enough improvement had been made to the plans. The parish council felt the site was still overdeveloped.

It was approved by a majority of 10 votes to four.

A spokesman for Linden Homes Midlands said afterwards: “This consent has taken over two years of careful and considered negotiation, refusal and appeal - but finally we have a permission and believe the scheme will create a residential development appropriate to, and in keeping with, the character and attractiveness of Navenby.”

The local community will also benefit from over £320,000 in financial contributions for traffic calming, expansion of the primary school and recreational space.
