Council sends out sandbags to help flood-hit communities
More than 1,000 sandbags have been sent by Nottinghamshire County Council to West Yorkshire to help in the fight against the floods.
The council’s emergency planning and highways offered their assistance on Monday after the communities of Bradford and Calderdale were left under water.
Council leader Alan Rhodes said: “When we got the call to help, we acted without hesitation in the full knowledge that they would have helped us if we were suffering.”
