The council originally turned down the application on Monarchs Road, by Persimmon Homes, in October 2014, however, the decision was appealed and an inspector began hearing a public inquiry yesterday (Tuesday).

The inquiry is set to finish tomorrow, however, the inspector has agreed to hold an evening session from 6.30pm tonight, which can be viewed live on the council’s webcast service.

A council spokesman said: “The council has been made aware that large numbers of people with an interest in the appeal may wish to attend the evening session but numbers may mean not everyone may be able to access the meeting room in which the inquiry is taking place.”

They added: “The inspector is keen that provision of this facility does not dissuade anyone from attending, but to meet the wider interest, especially from those who would have difficulty attending and are interested in the representations from the Sutterton Action Group.”

They warned that those planning to attend should be aware that the council may have to limit attendance at the Municipal Buildings due to health and safety and management of numbers.

Following the end of the inquiry a decision will be made in due course.
