That’s the message to being delivered by East Lindsey District Council following the Government’s Finance Settlement announcement today.

Coun Nick Guyatt said: “The Government has now provided councils with the draft financial settlement following the Autumn Statement and Spending Review.

“Whilst we’re still working through the detail, it appears broadly as we had expected. This means that Government funding to support local services will continue to decline to the point where councils may no longer receive Government funding at all. East Lindsey District Council will need to reduce its operating costs by at least a further £6 million over the next four years.

“The council won’t be able to provide all the services it once could but will maintain a clear focus on delivering its statutory services, supporting the most vulnerable people that live in the district and helping to support economic growth to create jobs.”
