Couple both die in Metheringham collision

An elderly couple involved in a collision near Dunston on Monday morning have now both died.

Lincolnshire Police have announced the tragic news that the driver of the car that was in collision with a lorry, Brian Dickinson, has now died in Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Mr Dickinson, 82, of Woodhall Spa was driving a grey Lexus when the collision was reported at 9.19am on the B1188 between Dunston and Metheringham.

His wife, Ruth Dickinson, 77, was travelling as a passenger in the vehicle at the time, had already died following the crash.

A police spokesman said: “The family and friends of the deceased are devastated and have asked that they be left alone by the media whilst they grieve and try to come to terms with their loss.”

The 37-year-old male lorry driver and his 32-year-old male passenger, both from West Yorkshire, were also both injured as a result of the collision and taken to hospital for treatment.

Three fire crews attended the scene as well as two air ambulances.

The investigating officers are still appealing for witnesses to come forward. This appeal includes anyone who saw the collision or who may have seen either vehicle being driven along prior to it.
