In court for £46k fraud

A CRESWELL woman will have to pay back over £46,000 worth of benefits she claimed after being prosecuted at court.

Bolsover District Council and The Department for Work and Pensions prosecuted Michelle Webster, 37, of Duke Street, Creswell, for claiming benefits as a single person whilst failing to declare she was living with an employed partner. Webster, who had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 13th August after claiming housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support totalling £46,677 between February 2007 - October 2011. She was also given a Community Order for two years with a Supervision Order for 12 months.
