This year’s Cresset pantomime The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will star former Coronation Street favourite Steven Arnold in the role of the Scarecrow.

Steven spent 15 years in the ITV soap, playing the loveable Ashley Peacock, and now brings his talent for comic acting to the Cresset stage for their annual festive treat. Steven’s no stranger to Panto, and is looking forward to this year’s show:

“There’s nothing quite like panto at Christmas, it’s such a fun show to be a part of. The scarecrow’s a great part for me, I get to make a lot of people laugh, and that’s so rewarding. I can’t wait to get started on the road to Oz!”

Joining Steven will be the usual quality cast, including Wicked Witch of the West Linda Clark whose many years of work include parts in Doctor Who, Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

Cresset favourite Zach Vanderfelt returns, swapping his usual frocks for fur as he plays the Cowardly Lion, and last year’s baddie Lawrence Stubbings will be the Tin Man. Leading the travellers along the Yellow Brick Road will be Lucy Jane Quinlan as Dorothy. Lucy-Jane has appeared several times in Pantomime in Peterborough, most recently in the role of Beauty at The Cresset in 2013.

Linda’s counterpart, the Good Witch, is Sylvia Carson, who also takes the role of Choreographer for this year’s production. Following the hugely successful open auditions earlier this month, Sylvia will be working with a talented team of local young performers who have been cast as munchkins and will take to the stage in December.
