Crews tackle tyre fire in Worksop

Smoke could be seen from miles around as firefighters tackled a blaze in a derelict building behind Clarence Street in Worksop.

They were called at 3.25pm on Wednesday to a pile of dumped tyres which were well alight in a building behind Carpet Right.

The building has no roof following a fire last year. It is thought the tyres were set on fire deliberately.

Two Worksop fire crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. They left at about 4.30pm.
