A15 singled out in focussed road safety week

They are supporting the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) road safety campaign which aims to target a road or location of high harm for one week.

During this week, officers will be particularly targeting road users on the A15, focussing efforts on one of the main arterial routes through the county.

Running from the River Humber down through the length of the county to Peterborough, it carries a wide range of business and personal vehicles, drivers and riders of all ages and the aim is to maximise efforts by reaching as many drivers and riders as possible.

A police spokesman said: “We often talk about the Fatal 4, which are the cause of a substantial amount of collisions where people are killed or seriously injured. The Fatal 4 are inappropriate speed, using a mobile phone, driving or riding while under the influence of drink or drugs and not wearing a seat belt.

“As well as targeting these offences we will be enforcing the full range of road traffic offences. We’ll be keeping drivers and riders longer to give their vehicles a full check over, make sure their documents are in order and the drivers are licensed and fit to drive.

“It is our aim to achieve a sustainable reduction in the number of people killed or seriously injured in collisions on our roads in Lincolnshire and this is just part of our plan to achieve this. For more details on our Roads Policing Plan.”

Officers are working with the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and other agencies to maximise the efforts of reducing collisions on the county’s roads.
