Residents have reported numerous sightings of armed police checking streets in the area including back gardens in Princess Aquare, Brunswick Close and Victoria Street as it was believed a suspect may have tried to escape while another was arrested and led away.

Police were seen coming out of a house on Brunswick Close.

One resident told The Standard she believed the incident was drug related, saying there were a number of troubling events going on in the village of late.

She said: “There were lots of police all over the village. There was one police car on Mill Close left an hour ago. They have arrested one man and there was something about a car which was why the police were looking in other parts of the village.”

A number of residents were concerned for their children at the local primary school.
