Devon Leman, 23, of Wilford Grove, admitted driving under the influence of cannabis, when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

The court heard he was stopped at 11.05pm on June 28 in his Citroen car in Heath Road and was found to have 4.8 microgrammes of cannabis in his bloodstream the legal limit is 2.

The magistrates were told he had been previously stopped for a similar offence in April this year and in September had been banned from driving for a year for that offence.

Helen Coney, in mitigation, said Leman had not taken cannabis on the day and did not realise the drug could stay in the system for a week to ten days after being smoked.

Leman was fined £320 and ordered to pay £117 in court costs and charges and was banned from driving for a year, effectively adding three months to his previous ban.
