Boston man jailed for 12-and-a-half years for rape and other sexual offences against a girl aged under 13

A Boston man has been jailed for 12-and-a-half years for rape and other sexual offences against a girl aged under 13.

George Cordell, 32, received the sentence following an appearance at Lincoln Crown Court today (Monday, March 16), Lincolnshire Police said.

In addition to the prison term, Cordell will serve an extra four years on licence, the force said.

He will also be on the Sex Offenders’ Register and be given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

A restraining order has also been made against him, the force added.

Cordell was convicted of two counts of raping a girl under 13, two counts of assault by penetration of a girl under 13, and two counts of sexual touching of a girl under 13, police said.

He pleaded guilty to all charges during a hearing on December 22 and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.

Det Con Sabooha Richeux, who led the investigation, said: “We’d like to thank the victim for her bravery throughout the difficult steps of what was a highly emotional and sensitive case. Her strength and courage made such an impact to our investigation, which meant that we were able to secure an arrest, a charge and ultimately convict the man responsible for the crime.”

Lincolnshire Police encourages anyone who who has been victim of rape or sexual assault to report it to the force as soon as possible.

“Even if you’re not 100 per cent sure, we want to hear from you so that we can make sure you’re safe,” it says. “If you’re not ready to talk to the police just yet, that’s okay.”
