Carl Fawson, 57, of Mill Road, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

He told police he had tried to drive into the ditch but had not gone fast enough and had got stuck on the bank.

He was banned from driving for 15 months but was offered the drink drivers' rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of the ban by 15 weeks.

He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay court costs and charges totalling £119.
