He said the owner of the car followed the car and found it stopped, with the driver, Morgan, slumped over the wheel and obviously heavily intoxicated.

Police were called and Morgan was arrested and gave a breath test reading of 113 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, the legal limit being 35.

Mitigating, Terry Boston said Morgan only drove around 100 yards and had made no attempt to leave the scene apart from that.

He said Morgan owned a cafe in Chapel St Leonards but had been unable to open since the pandemic started.
