Church hit again by ‘mean’ oil thieves
The rising price of fuel appears to be a motive for a village church being targeted by thieves for a second time.
Parishioners at the Church of St Mary & St Gabriel in Binbrook have been heartbroken after thieves drained every drop from the building’s heating oil tank on Saturday night.

Churchwarden, Kate Collins announced the news on the church’s Facebook page, saying: “This wasn't a random act; it was a coordinated theft, with the fuel likely transported to a vehicle waiting on Manor Drive/Louth Road.”
She said: “Keeping this church running is a massive undertaking fuelled entirely by the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of our donors. To have our fuel stolen for the second time is a mean-spirited blow to our entire community.”
A Lincolnshire policer spokesperson confirmed: “We are appealing for any information or CCTV footage that may help the investigation into this. If you can help, please report this to us via 101 by quoting incident 94 of 12 April.
“We encourage all residents with oil tanks to check them regularly.”
