Dashcam drivers urged to submit footage after dozens of offences identified
A Lincolnshire PCSO is encouraging motorists to make use of their dashcams after a previous appeal helped identify dozens of driving offences.
PCSO Dave Bunker is raising awareness of Operation Snap, an online portal run by Lincolnshire Police which allows members of the public to upload footage of suspected driving offences.
Figures released by the force show that between October 1 and December 31, 2022, a total of 325 submissions were received from the public.
Of those, 89 were processed as potential offences, while a further 55 motorists were issued with warning letters.

Offences identified during that period included driving without due care and attention, failing to comply with traffic light signals or red crosses, crossing solid white lines, using a mobile phone at the wheel and driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.
Operation Snap allows dashcam, helmet cam and CCTV footage to be reviewed by officers, with every submission assessed. Where footage shows a traffic offence and there is sufficient evidence, action can be taken which may lead to prosecution.
"The information you provide will help Lincolnshire Police to decide if there is enough evidence of an offence, which can be investigated and prosecuted,” said PCSO Bunker.
Drivers can report incidents such as dangerous driving, careless driving, not wearing a seatbelt, failing to stop at a red light, crossing solid white lines or cases where a motorist is clearly not in proper control of a vehicle.
Lincolnshire Police said that even where there is not enough evidence to pursue a case, details can still be passed to officers for intelligence purposes.
However, Operation Snap cannot be used to report road traffic collisions. These should be reported by calling 101.
Motorists can find out more about Operation Snap, and how to upload footage, via the Lincolnshire Police website.
