Do you know someone who would like to join the Lincolnshire Police cadets?

There are currently six Volunteer Cadet Corps across the county, in Boston, Bourne, Grantham, Lincoln, Louth and Skegness.

Together they have 148 cadets who attend each Wednesday evening for two hours.

The cadet leaders are a mix of police officers, PCSOs, police staff and members of the public who take on roles as police support volunteers.

They introduce the young people to many aspects of policing, developing their team work and leadership skills and helping them to become responsible citizens and reach their potential.

They have the support of the National Police Volunteer Cadets and are VPC framework to provide structured lesson plans with the aim of achieving an accredited qualification by the time they leave cadets.

They also get involved in different charitable fundraising events and make regular donations to local and national charities.

They represent the force at events and parades such as the Remembrance Day parades - and the older ones can go out on patrol with officers.

The idea is that they promote a positive image of young people and represent the police within the community.

The cadets normally recruit into those Corps that have vacancies twice a year. The next recruitment window will open in September and close at the end of the month.
