Drunk clubber urinated in back of police car

Todd Bainbridge, 20, of Fishtoft Road, Fishtoft, Boston, appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with drunk and disorderly behaviour in the town on February 14.

Shelley Wilson, prosecuting, told the court police encountered Bainbridge outside the After Dark nightclub, in Craythorne Lane, after being called to the scene by door staff.

He was ‘clearly drunk’, shouting abuse, waving around his arms and ‘swearing profusely’, she said.

The prosecution said Bainbridge had been ejected from the club. There had been a suggestion he had been acting aggressively towards others, Mrs Wilson said.

She continued: “He had tried to climb onto a flat roof and get back into the club through a window.”

Mrs Wilson said police gave Bainbridge ‘words of advice’, asking him to leave the area, before offering him a free lift home.

However, en route to Bainbridge’s home, the defendant became ‘increasingly abusive’ towards the officers, Mrs Wilson said.

“He proceeded to urinate all over the back of the police car,” she continued.

At this point the officers decided the defendant’s behaviour had ‘gone too far’, Mrs Wilson said, and he was taken to the police station.

She added: “He was allowed to sober up before he was charged with this offence.”

Bainbridge, who represented himself, pleaded guilty to the offence.

He said: “I’m sorry for my attitude and the way I was.”

He told magistrates it had not been his intention to get so drunk.

He said: “I can’t remember half of what happened.”

He added he was still ‘half-cut’’ when he woke up in the police cell and was told about what he had done.

He said: “All I can say is I’m sorry.”

Bainbridge, who is currently claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, was fined £82.50 for the offence.

He was ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs.
