Jail for stab-attack man who video-called friend to show off victim's injuries

A man committed a vicious stabbing in Louth – and then video-called a friend to show him the victim’s injuries.

Furthermore, when the police and an ambulance arrived, he also assaulted two officers who were trying to take him into custody.

Now the police have praised the initial victim for the bravery he showed in helping to bring the attacker, Christopher Lenden, to justice.

Lenden, 25, was jailed for four years and eight months when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court.

Lincolnshire Police said he pleaded guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and also admitted to assaulting an emergency worker.

In a statement after the hearing, the police said the court was told that the unprovoked stabbing happened at an address on Park Avenue, Louth in August last year.

Police say Lenden suddenly grabbed a knife and told his victim, who has not been named, that he was going to stab him.

Afterwards, he made a video-call to a friend, describing what he had done and showing the man’s injuries. The friend told him to call an ambulance, the court heard.

As well as receiving the prison sentence for GBH, Lenden was given a smaller sentence, to run concurrently, for the attack on the police officers and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

After the court hearing, Det Con Shahzeb Baig, of Lincolnshire Police, who investigated the case, described Lenden’s behaviour towards his victims as “totally unacceptable”.

He said: “This was a very serious offence, with a strong result in court.

“I would like to thank the stabbing victim for working with Lincolnshire Police because, no doubt, this was not easy for him due to the trauma from the attack.

“I would also like to thank his family and friends for supporting him through a tragic time.

“This was an unprovoked attack with a weapon by Lenden which shows the level of danger he presented.

“The victim can look towards the future knowing Lenden is serving a custodial sentence.”
