Louth man given restraining order after assaulting woman

A Louth man has been handed a restraining order after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on two occasions.

Court news

Paul Richard Burton, 35, of Ludgate, assaulted the woman in Louth on October 19, 2020, and on April 12 this year.

Burton pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on April 13.

He was ordered to pay £200 in compensation to the victim, and he was also given a two-year restraining order which prohibits him from contacting her or visiting her property.

Burton was also given a community order, which includes a requirement for him to participate in a 27-day accredited programme on building better relationships.

He must also comply with any instructions and attend any appointments as required by the responsible officer, up to a maximum of 15 days.

Burton is not obliged to pay any court costs or a victim surcharge, due to the court prioritising the payment of compensation to the victim.

The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account by the court when sentencing.
