Man broke into his mother's home on Boxing Day and stripped off demanding money, court is told

Mark Himsworth, who has a problem with the drug Mamba, turned up on Boxing Day at his mother's home in Eastwood Road, Boston, and kicked in the door.

Dawn Pritchard, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court that once inside the property Himsworth stripped off his clothes. He repeatedly demanded money and tried to snatch his mother's purse before eventually leaving without taking anything.

Himsworth also wrote a letter to his mother threatening to go to her workplace with needles to cause trouble for her.

Miss Pritchard said that Himsworth's mother was left in a state of shock and she could not believe what he had done.

Himsworth, 39, of South Terrace, Boston, admitted charges of burglary with intent to steal and sending a malicious communication. He was jailed for 15 months.

Recorder Mark Watson, passing sentence, told Himsworth "No doubt your mother was really at the end of her tether with you which is why you weren't invited into her house."

Neil Sands, in mitigation, told the court "The relationship between mother and son has clearly broken down. Behind that there are significant issues.

"This was the first time he had not been invited to the family home for Christmas. That was even more hurtful his mother is all that he has left in the world. It is an indication of the collapse in the mother and son relationship.

"He now has to work out how, if it is ever possible for him, to rebuild his relationship with his mother."

Mr Sands said that Himsworth had previously used crack cocaine and heroin but in recent times had a problem with Mamba.

"The addictive qualities of Mamba were something that was completely new to him."
