Man charged after alleged ‘lamping’ incident in Ludford

A 54-year-old man has been charged in connection with a ‘lamping’ incident in Six Hills Lane, Ludford.

Lincolnshire Police received a report of lamping - the act of hunting at night using lights - at around 2.58am on Saturday November 21.

Police officers attended the scene and carried out a search of the area, with the assistance of a police helicopter.

A silver Volvo was located and was pursued by officers who arrested two men, a 37-year-old man from Rotherham and a 54-year-old man from Sheffield.

The 54-year-old, Leigh Russell, of Oaks Fold Road, Sheffield, has since been charged with criminal damage, driving a vehicle without due care and attention, failing to stop, and using a vehicle without a valid MOT. The 37-year-old man was released without any further action.

Russell has been released on bail and is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on March 3, 2021.
