Man jailed for more than three years after Ingoldmells stabbing

A man has been jailed for more than three years following a stabbing in Ingoldmells, according to Lincolnshire Police.
Police said Josh Winard, aged 28, of Kirkhill Close, Armthorpe, Doncaster, was sentenced to 44 months in prison after an incident at Tower Point on Sea Lane in the early hours of 16 July last year.
As reported by Lincolnshire Police, officers were called after a man was stabbed at around 12.30am. The victim later collapsed in a nearby car park and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries were described as serious but non-fatal.
Police said Winard fled the scene following the incident, prompting a detailed investigation by detectives. Officers trawled through hours of CCTV footage from the area in order to piece together his movements during the night.
Lincolnshire Police also launched a public appeal for information, asking for help to build a clearer picture of events leading up to the attack. Investigators said this appeal generated valuable information that helped officers understand the interaction between the two men prior to the stabbing.
According to police, CCTV footage showed Winard with the victim in the moments before the assault took place. Information provided by members of the public was then used alongside the footage to establish a timeline of events.
Winard was later located by officers, arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
He appeared before Lincoln Crown Court at the end of November, where he was sentenced to three years and eight months in custody.
Detective Constable Emma Dodsworth, who worked on the case, said the outcome demonstrated that knife crime would not be tolerated in Lincolnshire.
She said: “We will use every tool at our disposal to identify offenders, track them down and bring them to justice.
“Winard’s attack was barbaric and has no place in our county.
“Knife crime claims too many lives each year and there is no reason to carry a knife. If you feel the need to do so, stop, think again, and seek help through the various support services available. It can be the difference between life and death.”
Lincolnshire Police continue to urge anyone affected by knife crime, or concerned about their own safety or the safety of others, to seek support.
