Man jailed for stalking woman in persistent harassment

A Skegness man has been jailed for three years for repeatedly contacting a woman in a prolonged campaign of stalking.

Nigel Dunn, 44, began making hundreds of unwanted calls just a week after being released from prison for similar offences, breaching a non-molestation order.

Prosecutor Declan Austin told Lincoln Crown Court: “The unwanted contact began again after Dunn came out of prison on June 25 last year. He would mask the calls using private numbers, sometimes remaining silent or becoming abusive. The victim was left in a constant state of fear.”

Mr Austin said Dunn made 985 attempts to contact the victim, including 17 calls in a single day in October 2025, which led her to contact the police.

In a statement read in court, the victim said: “I lived in a constant state of fear. The calls caused me tremendous upset and distress.”

Dunn, formerly of Skegness but now of no fixed address, admitted stalking and breaching the non-molestation order.

His lawyer, Paul O’Shea, said: “He has blown it big time. He now recognises the stupidity of what he has done. He will have to rebuild his life again.”

Passing sentence, Recorder Simon King described Dunn’s conduct as “downright nasty”. He said: “It is clear to me that what you set about doing in the latter part of 2025 caused tremendous upset and distress for her.”

A five-year restraining order was also imposed, preventing Dunn from having any unlawful contact with the woman.
