Carter then kicked the man who was left with a gash to the back of his head having fallen onto a pipe that was sticking out of the ground.

The victim was left with an injury that bled heavily and subsequently needed medical treatment.

Carter, 41, of Beresford Crescent, Skegness, admitted a charge of assault arising from the incident on 22 June 2019.

He was given a 12 month community order with a 20 day rehabilitation activity requirement order.

Neil Sands, in mitigation, said Carter had been out of trouble for over 20 years and handed himself in when he realised that police were looking for him.

He said that Carter pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and has shown remorse.

"He fully accepts that he is the author of his own misfortunes," said Mr Sands.
