Man pleads guilty to causing death by careless driving

A BMW driver has admitted causing the death of a 56-year-old man by careless driving following a collision near Coningsby.

David Eldridge, 68, of Old Fen Lane, Scrub Hill, near Coningsby, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Geoffrey Saville by driving carelessly when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court today (Friday, September 25)

The charge followed an incident on Midville Road, Stickney, on February 13 last year, in which Mr Saville died.

The collision took place between a black BMW convertible and a blue Volkswagen van at around 7.20pm.

Mr Saville, who was from the local area, was killed in the collision which left two others seriously injured.

He was not inside his van at the time of the crash.

Judge John Pini QC granted Eldridge bail until he is sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on November 3.

The judge told court: “From any point of view, that of Mr Saville, or Mr Eldridge, this is not a typical case. It is is a very sad case “
