Man sentenced after threatening to ‘set himself alight and blow up Louth hospital’

A 28-year-old man has been sentenced after threatening to set himself alight and blow up Louth hospital.

Tyson Paul Ashton, of no fixed abode, made the threats towards NHS staff members at the hospital on October 9.

Court documents reveal that Ashton was holding a lighter and a can of butane gas at the time.

Ashton appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on October 10, and pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was fined £200 and ordered to pay an additional £34 victim surcharge.

The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account by the court when sentencing.
