Lauren Jane Craig-Tyler, 33, was only stopped after police used a stinger device, driving on for 100 metres with a blown tyre and then jumping out of the car and running into nearby fields.

The chase, which went on for 24 minutes, started when Craig-Tyler drove off as a police officer tried to talk to her while she was stopped at a red light, Boston Magistrates Court heard..

Prosecutor Sukhdev Bisla said police officers saw Craig-Tyler in a parked Vauxhall Astra in Bridge Street in Boston on Sunday November 29 and a check revealed the car was uninsured.

She drove off before the officers had a chance to talk to her, so they followed her with blue lights but she did not stop and jumped a red traffic light in John Adams Way.

He said that when the car stopped an officer went to the driver's window and knocked on it but although Craig-Tyler looked at him, she drove off and the chase through Boston streets and into neighbouring villages began.

Mr Bisla said she drove at speeds up to 90mph, drove over a roundabout, through a pedestrian zone at 30mph, through several red traffic lights, overtook other vehicles on bends with double white centre lines and caused an HGV and several cars to brake sharply and take evasive action.

Police eventually had to use a 'stinger' to stop the car but although a tyre was punctured, she still drove another 100 metres and to the offside lane to try and get away before abandoning the car and running into fields where she was caught and arrested.

Mr Bisla said she was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

Craig-Tyler, 33, of Stamford Road, Pilsgate, admitted dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police, driving without insurance and possessing cannabis at Boston Magistrates Court.

Mitigating, Michael Alexander asked the magistrates not to send the case to the Crown Court for sentencing as their powers were sufficient to deal with her in all the circumstances.

He said she was a single mother of three and had been in a violent relationship for a number of years and had been hit by him that same day.

He said it was her partner's car and, unknown to her, he had cancelled the insurance.

Mr Alexander said that when the police found Craig-Tyler parked at the side of the road and knocked on the window, she was crying and 'just panicked' as she just wanted 'to get out of here'.

He said she did not feel she had been travelling as fast as the police said, but had not driven since and had separated from her partner.

The magistrates sent Craig-Tyler to the Crown Court for sentence on a date to be notified and granted her unconditional bail.
