Murder probe launched after body believed to be that of a schoolboy found in Fishtoft

Police have launched a murder inquiry after the body of what is believed to be a schoolboy was found in Fishtoft yesterday.

Police said today final identification is yet to take place, but officers believe the victim to be a boy of secondary school age.

Two people - a boy of 14 and a man of 19 - have been arrested and remain in police custody.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them. They also want to speak to anyone with CCTV cameras which may cover the area around where the body was found.

In a statment released today, Lincolnshire Police said: "We have now launched a murder investigation in relation to the body found in Fishtoft yesterday.

"Final identification is yet to take place but we now believe the victim to be a boy of secondary school age

Two males, aged 14 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.

Lincolnshire Police say they were called to Alcorn Green in Fishtoft at 10.22 yesterday morning after a body was found in a common area at the rear of the street.

Speaking today, Detective Superintendent Martyn Parker said, “This is a devastating incident in which a young boy has lost his life.

"The impact will no doubt be felt greatly in the community and beyond.

"This type of incident is not what we would expect to see within our communities. We are working with those affected to keep them informed and offer our support.

"I want to reassure the public that we will do all in our power to meticulously investigate the circumstances of this young boy's death and we would urge anyone who has any information that could support this investigation to get in touch.”

Police have made a direct appeal for anyone with external facing CCTV covering the junction of Freiston Road and Woodthorpe Avenue, and the entire length of Wing Drive and Alcorn Green for any footage between the hours 8pm on Friday 11 December and 10.22am on Saturday
