Police enforce three closure notices following anti-social behaviour in Horncastle

Following issues of anti-social behaviour, disorder and nuisance linked with flats on Bull Ring, Horncastle, three closure notices have been granted by Lincoln Magistrates Court.

This latest move allows for eviction of tenants and temporary securement of the properties.

Wolds Inspector, Sarah Constantine, said: “My team and I recognise and understand that there has been concern in the community about how the police have been able to deal with those involved in this anti-social behaviour during the Covid pandemic.

“A great deal of work has gone into this very difficult case by all involved including our partner agencies and the public who supported us to achieve this outcome.

“All have gone above and beyond and their sheer diligence, perseverance and tenacity have made it happen. They should rightly be proud of what they have done as a team, it is a privilege to work with them.”

• On July 21, a closure notice was granted by the court for 5B Bull Ring.

A man and woman were evicted that night and the flat was boarded up. The notice lasts for three months.

• On August 5, closure notices were granted by the court for 5C and 5D Bull Ring.

A man from each residence was escorted from the property and access to the to the communal hallway has been secured. These notices last for two months.

The closure notices now in place means that it is a criminal offence for anybody, other than the landlord or somebody carrying out repairs for the landlord, to enter any of the flats. Any breaches are an offence under section 86 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing act 2014.
