Police investigating spate of rural burglaries and thefts near Horncastle

Police have revealed they are investigating ‘a spate’ of burglaries/thefts in rural villages around Horncastle and are appealing for information.

The first was at a farm at Edlington. Fencing was smashed to gain entry to a yard and an angle grinder was used to cut hinges off the door of a shed.

The only item taken was a Stihl hedge trimmer. Many other valuable items were left behind.

This may mean that the criminals were intending to return, or that they were disturbed. Evidence indicates they left the yard in their vehicle via the damaged fence and drove off on the A158. (incident Number 55 of the March 12).

In Haltham, a break-in to a workshop led to a Landrover being stolen. The vehicle is blue with a white roof and has the registration number of L529 YNX.

A small window was forced to access the keys of the vehicle and a roller door was opened by using an angle grinder on the locks.

The vehicle was seen heading towards Kirkby on Bain. (Incident Number 469 of March 11)

A burglary took place at a residential dwelling in Horsington. Cash was removed from the property which had been ransacked.

Tradesmen had access to the property for renovation work and it is believed there is a link between the burglary and someone who had access. (Incident number 136 of March 13).
