However, beach patrols did not quite go as planned when an off-road buggy was swept out to sea.

Police were responding to reports on Saturday of a group of people heading up to Ingoldmells beach for a walk.

However, the vehicle got stuck but were unable to recover it before it was swept out to sea in the evening.

Insp Matt Bennison said: “The vehicle had been patrolling our beaches following a large number of reports that people had travelled from outside of the county for a walk on the beach.

“Unfortunately the vehicle couldn’t be recovered and was taken out to sea. We are working on recovering the vehicle.”
