Police officer assaulted in Fenside Road area of Boston

A police officer is said to have been assaulted in the Beechwood area of Boston last night (Friday).

According to a police spokesman, the alleged assault happened near Fenside Road.

The spokesman said: “His injuries are not life-threatening and he has since been discharged from hospital.

“We are appealing for anyone with information that may assist us to come forward. Please call 101, quoting incident number 415 of November 18.”

Members of the public had turned to social media having seen a large police presence in the area of the riverbank near Witham Bank and the rowing club, with police cars and vans cordoning off the area and ambulances as well as a helicopter hovering above. This had led to speculation that a body had been found.
