Isle police warn people to be vigilant following crimes committed in and around the Westgate Road area.

A police spokesman said: “Although burglaries from homes at Belton are down by 33 per cent so far this year, four crimes that occurred during July are currently under investigation by the CID based at Scunthorpe.”

Residents are encouraged to report immediately any suspicious people or vehicles that are seen in the area by ringing the police on 101.

It is particularly important, even during hot weather, than people ensure their homes are secured, with doors and windows closed and locked even when in another part of the house or out in the garden, say police.

Window locks are recommended and further advice and security products can be found by visiting www.securedbydesign.com

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team based at Epworth, along with representatives of North Lincolnshire Council’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team, will be at Carr House Road, Belton, between 3pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday (August 13) promoting Immobilise .

Immobilise allows residents to register their valuable property and enables police to trace owners of recovered property (see www.immobilise.com. )

The spokesman added: “The Isle of Axholme is policed 24/7 by incident response officers, some of whom come on duty at Epworth and some at Scunthorpe.”

He continued: “They are supported by colleagues, including traffic and dog section officers from across the force area.”
